Thank you for fitting in the repair to the stonework for the above, that and the quality of work is much appreciated. The stonework and the woodwork give a superior finish to the frontage.

Visiting Penrith for the first time since 1957, I looked out your fine building... The building now looks magnificent, well done.

Barrow Gateway Townscape Heritage Initiative - 09/07/2010

I recently visited the roof of Cooke's Building with my Townscape Heritage Initiative Steering Group. This group included one local councilor, two Council Officers, a representative from the local Civic Society and the Community Press. The Assistant Director of Regeneration came along too. All were very impressed with the quality of workmanship.

I Have also had the pleasure of walking past the refurbished Cooke's Building with two visitors. These were Mr Phelim Maguire from 2M Associates in Northern Ireland, the Heritage Lottery Townscape Heritage Initiative Scheme monitor, and Mr Richard Fowler from Heritage Lottery Fund. Their organisations both monitor the standard of workmanship and give substantial grants towards the cost of undertaking refurbishment work to a high standard.

I am pleased to report that both of them were most complimentary about your work on Cooke's Building.

Our thanks to you and your craftsmen for the diligence and attention to detail that is evident in the finished building.

I look forwards to working with your company on future contracts.

Holy Trinity Church, Wetheral - 22/10/2010

Thank you for meeting me at the church on Tuesday and for showing me the repairs that have just been completed on the tower by Askins and Little.

I confirm that it looks to me to have been a very thorough job. As you know, I was not directly involved in commissioning the work (and I have not seen the accounts) so I am not able to comment on the "value for money" aspects of it. However, from a technical viewpoint it all appears to have been carried out extremely well. The stone will take a while to weather in, but once it does, I think we will be hard pressed to tell what has been done. In the meantime it simply looks like a well executed repair.

It is particularly pleasing to see that the tower lead gutters have been reconstructed and re-laid to falls and these will now be off the list of things to do for many, many years.

I confirm again that it has all been done very well indeed.

Regards
